Required addons/applications
Below you will find a list of addons and external applications that are required for any raiding member of Shades of Honor. The items listed below must be installed and configured prior to the scheduled raid start time by all members who plan to participate in that evening's events.
All of the links below will be updated as necessary when new versions or improved applications are released. Raid members should refer back to this page frequently to check for any updates on raid mods.
While Blizzard has implemented it's own integrated voice chat software we have found that it does not sufficiently meet the needs of a successful raiding guild. As such we require all raiding members to use the Ventrilo voice chat program. Having a microphone to communicate with is also a requirement.
This voice chat application uses VOIP technology to allow raid leaders and officers to more efficiently communicate with guild members during a raid or boss encounter.
For Mac users, this link will provide the download client compatible with your operating system.
BigWigs is a boss alert mod. It consists of many individual "boss modules", mini addons that are designed to trigger alert messages and timer bars for one specific raid boss each. Modules are activated when you target or mouseover a Boss, or if any other member of your raid that uses BigWigs does. In most cases only one module will be running at any given time.
DBM is an alternative boss alert mod to BigWigs. Raiding members may choose whichever of the two addons they prefer but at least one is required to be installed & configured prior to the raid start time.
Omen is a threat meter. Basically, enemies in WoW decide who to attack by deciding who is the most threatening based on the abilities you use. What Omen attempts to do is provide reasonably accurate estimates of your group's relative threat level on individual enemies, so that you can see when you're in danger of pulling aggro (or, if you're next on the snack list if your tank bites it). This info is usually only critical in raids, where only tanks can survive aggro, but it's useful for any multi-player situation. |
